DRINK WATER BAR
The bar is the central point of consumption at every event and club. As such, it is also one of the places with the greatest potential for change. SDC has already built a 'minimal waste bar' at Club WATT and is now developing a special Drinkwater-bar in collaboration with Project Helder.
The Drinkwater-bar adds value to tap water providing people with an alternative choice to sodas, with a much smaller environmental impact. The bar enables people to enjoy water more.
167 litres of water are used for the production and transport of half a litre of cola, plus a great deal of energy. This is an enormous amount of waste, considering that developed countries offer perfectly healthy water from the tap. The Sustainable Dance Club and Project Helder will promote tap water as a sustainable and honest alternative to sodas. The bar will surprise the consumer with ‘watertainment’, a system where water is fed along speakers built into the bar, making the water jump up and down to the music and absorbing the atmosphere. The Drinkwater-bar will have educational value providing background information about the water purification process. The ‘watertainment’ element will transform the bar into an eye-catching centrepiece for any club or event whilst enlivening the whole experience of drinking water.
The consumer can add their own natural flavouring to the water, using syrup or ice cubes made from fruit extracts. The ice cubes also serve to cool the water, and the consumer gets to see exactly what goes into their drink, increasing product awareness. There are no artificial additives or taste enhancers in the drink, and consumers are made aware of what they are drinking.
The characteristics of our Drinkwater-bar are:
· Serves water from the tap instead of bottled water or soda’s
· Uses water from the site/building where the bar is placed, or from the nearest source
· Uses non chemical filters if needed
· Uses natural flavours to add delicious flavours on request
· Shows the water in transparent tubes, creating awareness about water usage
· Interacts with music
· Minimal usage of electricity
· Responsible usage of materials
The bar enables people to enjoy water more. This is what we call, positive drinking.
